And The Trees Sang
Went for a walk in the forest
as I am wont to do on a sunny spring
blue-sky day thoughts racing ahead of me
almost out of sight keeping pace with my dog
sniffing here pissing there running after balls
in all directions tried slow deep breaths
to center myself looked up through
the tall trees felt small, and
young, like a child so I
asked them would
they help me?
did they
know
how to
calm my
mind?
and so
it began
like a
low
rumble
deep
and slow
baritone
bass
tenor
soothing
Gregorian
hum and
I stood still
And my dog stopped and looked at me as if he could hear it too
I closed my eyes
And listened
Thank you
Thank you thank you
I smiled
